The wonderful nature photographer Patrick Latter recently posted a set of three stunning pictures of a Great Blue Heron on his blog (here). I think they are beautiful creatures with a real grace about them, and Patrick has captured this in several ways. The moment before flight, all tense and full of stored energy. The moment after takeoff, all effort going into making some altitude. In flight, soaring effortlessly through the air.
I was inspired to write. Given the natural subject matter, some haiku seemed to fit rather well, I hope you agree and enjoy the combination of words and pictures. Patrick’s photos are reproduced without permission, but I hope he won’t mind. All credit is his, I just wrote the words 🙂 If yo ulike the pictures, please go over to his blog and take a look, he really is a talented chap!
The moment of launch
A solid wooden pier
Winged snake with clawed feet
A forefeather’s shadow cast
Calming thoughts mid flight
Fish scamper through clear water
Opaque tail feathers
